What Is “dingtwist”?

Some of you have been wondering where I got the name for the site. “dingtwist” is a strange word you haven’t heard before.

When I was a kid, maybe 11 or 12 years old, I was hanging out with some neighborhood friends and we got in a small argument. My friend Richard became frustrated and said, “You…you…you DINGTWIST!” We all laughed at the hilarity of the word and from then on, we used it as an insult. “You’re such a dingtwist.” “Stop being such a dingtwist.”

Through the years the word has stuck with me, and I used it for my AOL Instant Messenger name, for example, before the service became obsolete.

When I started this website, I figured it was an appropriate name. Short, unique, memorable.

That’s it.
