Purple Stars

This is from a lucid dream and astral projection I experienced on 10/29/12

I was taking some kind of philosophy class, located in some kind of strip mall. I left the class to retrieve something (I forget what), and went through the mall, down the escalator, and I kept getting sidetracked by conversations with people. On my way back to class I realized I had been gone for a very long time and started to feel nervous about that fact.

When I returned to class, it was an outdoor class and all of the students were sitting around under the sun while the professor taught. He looked very similar to one of my real-life college professors. Some people were naked, myself included, and the girl next to me was topless, in the arms of [presumably] her boyfriend.

I don’t remember the sequence of events that led to four of us being on a magic flying carpet, but I found myself floating around with three others, traveling forward. I came to realize that I could influence the direction of the carpet with my thoughts alone, and around that time I realized I was dreaming and became fully conscious and lucid within the dream. I was on the left of the carpet and the other three would not always go where I wanted to, so I had some resistance and the carpet stretched and pulled against their weight. I tried explaining to them that we were all dreaming and we could move the carpet as we pleased, but they didn’t understand me.

Next I was on the ground, and one of the other students realized he could fly. He flew high up in the sky and came crashing down in some kind of capsule, like a small rocket ship. The others hurried over and were worried he’d be hurt, but I was laughing and smiling because I knew he was just fine and playing around. After all, it was just a dream. The capsule opened and he emerged wearing some kind of blanket, laughing. I laughed again.

This part of the dream ended and I awoke in a shed, as if I had been sleeping. Things looked very, very strange. I was immediately aware that I was projecting, not in my physical body, and made a conscious effort not to get too excited as I knew doing so would make me return to my body and wake up in the physical world.

The shed was some kind of maintenance shed, similar to a golf course maintenance shed in which you’d find lawn equipment. On my right was some kind of chain device that led outdoors. I tried to mess with it to get outside but kept getting my hands tangled so gave up on that. On the other side of the chain was a large type of lawn mower, and as I gave up on the chains and looked down, there was packed grass and dirt, like the kind that would come out of lawnmower blades, and for some reason I thought it was funny and I laughed.

I walked across the shed to a door, which was a garage door, slid it up from the handle at the bottom, and I was outside. I walked across a small path, on the other side of which was a large field which sloped downward away from me. My vision was crystal clear and I continued to be fully aware that I was not in the physical world, but exploring some other world, perhaps in another dimension, or a different planet in a different galaxy. There was dark green grass, sparse trees, and a large building off in the distance at the bottom of the slope. I got the sense that it was a hotel, although I didn’t fully focus on it.

To my right was a truck-like vehicle and it seemed like there was someone in it. I felt weird looking over, so I didn’t, and I also didn’t move for a while, just standing there. Finally I looked into the truck. There was a man driving, a child in the middle seat, and possibly someone else in the passenger seat. I couldn’t tell for sure. The sense I got from them is that they were confused why I was there. It felt a bit awkward. They drove by slowly, then I took in the view.

All around me the sky was jet black, except for some indescribable star formations. The stars were a brilliant, glowing purple, and they were pulsating and shimmering. I said aloud, “Beauuuttiifffuulll!” and was almost in tears because of the unbelievable beauty. It was a beauty more intense than anything I’ve ever experienced in this physical world. The formations were somewhat like an upside-down horseshoe, but much more complex. To the left of the formations was the moon, although it was very hazy due to cloud cover.

Remember, through all of this I was completely aware that I was not “in” my body. I decided to fly, closing my eyes and focusing my attention on levitating. I rose slowly, 50, 100 feet. As I reached the apex, I looked to the right again, toward the moon, and I could see the ocean, a completely black ocean. On the shore was a large community with 2-300 white pueblo-type dwellings with orange, clay shingles. It was beautiful, and once again I was in awe. When I think back to this experience I remember everything very vividly.

While I was in the air, I decided to try to go to a different place by intending it. I closed my eyes, said, “Take me where I’m supposed to go,” and with that, I felt a pulling on my legs, pulling me downward, into the earth. It was a very pleasurable, slow floating sensation and my legs felt exactly as if someone had each of his/her hands wrapped around my legs just above the ankles. At this point I started to lose my focus and shot back into my physical body, in bed. I believe I lost it because I started to feel a bit scared as I was pulled down deep into the earth.

As I awoke, I felt completely relaxed, refreshed, and all-around amazing, which never happens when I first wake up. I felt the urge to thank someone for the experience, so I thanked my “guardian spirit”. It was an absolutely amazing experience and I can’t wait to see what the future brings. I will post the more interesting ones here.
