How to Make Your Razor Last Forever (for Free)

I use the Schick Hydro 5 disposable razors because they’re the best. I used to think the same of the Gillette Fusion until I got my hands on some Hydros. However, the little bastards are expensive. That’s why I devised a free, unbelievably easy method to make my razor last forever.

By “forever” I mean 4, 5, 6, 12 months or so, which really is forever for a disposable razor blade, or a disposable anything.

This method will work for any razors, men’s or women’s.

I’ve seen these stupid products that are supposed to make your razors last longer, like this. They claim to smooth out the nicks in the razor. Nicks caused by your stubble.

You really think the little strands of hair on your face/legs/vagina/anus are doing any kind of damage to your razor’s steel blades? The only reason razors lose their edge is because when left with water on them, the metal corrodes.

The key is to make sure your razor is completely dry when you’re done shaving. There are several ways to do this effectively, but the way I’ve used for the past year or more is the easiest and least time-consuming.

I used to blow dry them until dry, but that took the better part of a minute, which is a significant period of time during the typical person’s morning rush.

The best way is simply to take a tissue (or a few squares of toilet paper), fold it up a few times, and leave it on your sink. When you’re done shaving, rinse the blade off (obviously), shake most of the water off (I do this onto my carpet), then place the blade face-down onto the tissue. Make sure all the blades are touching the tissue:

The remaining moisture will be wicked off of the blades within minutes, leaving a perfectly dry razor that will last you a long, long time. I’ve been using my current razor for ~4 months, and it still feels new. Before I started doing this, a razor would last only a week or two.

Of course the little aloe gel nubs at the top of my razors died around the one month mark or so, but those things don’t actually do anything. They’re just a sales gimmick.

I use the same tissue for a week or two, but you can change it however often you want.

Whatever way you do it, if you dry your razors after using them, they’ll last a long time, you’ll save money, you’ll be happier, and your life will improve in every way. You’ll be more confident, more women/men will be attracted to you, you’ll make more money, people will notice you and in some cases (in most cases for me), revere you. All of this…for free.

You can thank me here.
